A Breeze of Spring

My latest work shows a Tree Pipit (Anthus trivialis). I saw this bird in early May on a walk in the morning along the open cultivated land at the village Lalden. As I passed the water stream and the green meadows I reached the edge of the field. Suddenly a bird shot up from the ground. My eyes followed it’s course into the trees. The little guy perched on a branch high above in a big ash tree. With curiosity we watched each other. I expected the Tree Pipit would fly away but instead the bird seem to relax and began sunbathing. A great opportunity for me to took some pictures and to observe it’s behavior. All it’s feathers fluffed up, the light gently touched it’s shoulder and tail feathers. I recognised the belly of the bird was quite dark inside the plumage. A characteristic I have not known before nor seen described in my filed books. So it was fun to treasure this pose and interesting observation in a small Scratchboard work.
